Same sex dancing will be a major attraction at the World Outgames in Copenhagen 25 July – 2 August 2009
Dancing is not just a sport, it is a state of mind and the ‘best of the best’ will be on show in Copenhagen in August 2009.
Whilst on a press tour recently I had the pleasure of meeting two contestants who will be competing next year at the World Outgames2009 in Copenhagen
The couple Horst and Detlev have been dancing together for the past two years and put on an amazing display of ballroom dancing at the Tivoli Goes Gay event in July
Horst and Detlev both live in Berlin, Germany, where Horst works in the hospitality industry and Detlev is an economist.
They have many years of experience in not just same sex dancing but also dancing with women and compete in ballroom and modern dancing on a regular basis
Individually Horst holds titles for the Eurogames; German Championships in Latin and Ballroom and 10 other dances and Detlev has also gained several titles in World Championships ands German Championships in Ballroom.
Having dance together since October 2006, they have competed in the German Championships together in 2007 and 2008 and gained a 3rd in the Eurogames, in Antwerp, Belgium as well as 5 other competitions which they placed 1st in held in London, Berlin, Vienna, Hannover and Copenhagen (Nordic Open) in 2007
In 2008 Horst and Detlev they competed in the Eurogames in Barcelona, Spain and were placed 2nd.
To watch the grace and style of these two incredible competitors shows our community that competitive dance is a force to be reckoned with and will be part of the World Outgames and other competitions for the long term.
