1908 - Born Dec 25 1908, flamboyant writer, actor and artist Quentin Crisp died this day aged 90, 1999. Openly gay, he was a best-selling author of 'The Naked Civil Servant'. His life was turned into a 1976 television film staring John Hurt. At the tender age of 72, he left England for good to live in Manhattan and despite his wealth, lived in a small single room apartment. Sting's "Englishman in New York" is a tribute to Crisp
